Eagles Go back to Back

By: Lois Thomas

Dongara has put two games together with a 74-point victory over the Morawa Tigers at Dongara. Morawa won the toss and elected to kick into a 3-goal breeze on another great day for football. The first quarter started with Morawa's (Russell) Lawrence goaling but alas this was to be the Tiger's only goal for the quarter. The Eagles (Anthony) McShane booted 5 for the quarter off his own boot and assisted with others to have Dongara ahead by 48-points at the quarter time siren. With (Adam) George; (Jyle) Yerbury & (Anthony) Boccardo consistently winning around the centre and (Robert) Thompson cleaning up across the back-line the Tiger's did a great job in slowing the onslaught. Although Dongara won each remaining quarter, their dominance was curtailed by the likes of (Jay) Collins at centre-half back; the continual running of youngsters (Kelvin) Baxter, (Cody) Thorne and (Brad) Collins. With a couple of experienced players due back at Tigerland, (following the seeding program), being able to show the young Tigers "the way", Rounds Two and Three of the Cunninghams NMFL Fixtures should prove to be promising for Morawa.

With a bye this week, Dongara should be close to full-strength with (Chad) Zimmermann and (Malcolm McKenzie) returning from injury but will miss (Robert) Thompson due to work commitments.
