COOROW/Latham and
Mingenew both secured significant wins on the weekend in their bid to
consolidate, in the run towards the finals, in round ten of the Cunningham Ag
Services North Midlands Football League. The Coorow Latham Magpies dominated the
second half of their game against the Three Spring Bombers to record a 48-point
victory at Maley Park Coorow. The
first half was a see saw affair with both teams trading goals.
Bomber forward Nakia Taylor converted his opportunities for three first
half goals and Bill McGree set up many good Three Springs counter attacks.
Will Browne was effective for the Magpies in the ruck and in the forward
half and Damien Helliwell and Chris Latham gave good service through the
midfield. The Magpies big forwards including Gavin Kerr, Will Browne and Wes
Morcombe were given better use of the ball in the second half.
The Magpie defence kept the Bombers scoreless in third term, led by Mal
Just who kept the dangerous Taylor in check.
MINGENEW
have experienced a turbulent season to this point however with the return of
Greg Poultney (Len Angel Medallist 2002 Grand Final), Jeremy Wasley, and Troy
Tapscott the squad is progressing to full strength. At Carnamah last Saturday, the Bulldogs inflicted a
wake up call to the League Leaders when they suffered only their second loss
this season. The combination of Big Justin Bagley (4) Karl Criddle (2) Troy
Tapscott (3) along with the mid-field dominance of Ben Solomon and James
Dempster, the Roo's struggled throughout the game.
DONGARA
easily accounted for Morawa at Morawa with a percentage boosting 62-point win in
a one-side affair last Sunday.
With the Country Championships on in Perth next
weekend, all Clubs will be looking forward to a well earnt rest. To those
players representing the North Midlands in either Colts or League, we wish you
the best of luck and a safe journey.
