LEADERS  HAVE  EASY  WIN

The Carnamah Perenjori Rams inflicted a 47 point defeat on the Coorow Latham Magpies in Coorow.  The Rams midfielders, led by Brendan Hausler, controlled the game and the result was never in doubt.

In misty rain, the Magpies started better, but could not convert possession within their forward fifty into goals.  The Rams steadied and kicked away to lead by 18 points at quarter time.  Coorow Latham responded in the second quarter to bridge the gap early in the quarter with their tall forwards controlling the game.  However the small Rams defence, led by Coach Peter Machin and David Smith came back into the game and many of the Carnamah-Perenjori attacks began from defence.  Carnamah-Perenjori again outscored the Magpies to lead by 25 points at the main break.

The third quarter was a torrid affair with no side giving any quarter.  The Rams peppered their goal, but managed the only major of the term.  In the final quarter, with Coorow Latham running out of fit players, the Rams were totally in control and kicked away to win easily.

The Rams deservedly remain unbeaten and atop the Cunningham’s North Midlands League Ladder.  Although small in comparison, their defence stepped up to control the tall forwards of the Magpies.  However their winning asses was the dominant midfield led by Brendan Hausler that included Darren Whitehurst and youngsters Jeff Page, and Matthew Smith.  Carnamah Perenjori are now definitely the yardstick of the competition.

After this comprehensive defeat the Magpies must look to recover to take on Three Springs next weekend.  Already with injuries to Mal Just and Wes Morcombe, now first choice players including Will Browne, Todd King and Nick Ashby are unlikely to play next week.
