MIXED RESULTS THROUGHOUT

Coorow/Latham took top spot on the Cunninghams League Ladder over the weekend in the North Midlands with a 73-point win over the Morawa Tigers. Played in cold dry conditions at the Morawa Greater Sports Ground, Morawa won the toss a kicked with a slight southerly breeze. Morawa enjoyed a 1-point advantage at quarter time, Daniel Rafferty and Ben Turtley provided targets in the Tigers forward line, while Gavin Kerr was a sizable target for the Coorow/Latham Magpies. The second quarter saw the big Coorow/Latham side totally dominate the game, Damien Helliwell was inspirational in the centre and Coorow/Latham were able to add a sizeable 52-points to their tally while keeping the Tigers scoreless.

Dongara were 32-point winners at home to Carnamah/Perenjori last Saturday. In  a sunshine filled day, Dongara started in fine form with the first two goals on the board. Strong defence from (Robert) Thompson, (Chad) Zimmermann and (Jim) Phillips combined with good run in the centre from (Cameron) Wooton, (Mal) McKenzie and (Anthony) Boccardo had Carnamah/Perenjori on the back foot at the quarter siren even though they led by a minor 2-points. Carnamah/Perenjori struggled to contain the growing confidence of the attacking Dongara Eagles throughout the second quarter and found themselves behind by 28-points at the major beak. A determined effort throughout the third quarter by Carnamah/Perenjori Roo's held the Eagles to just 2-points for the quarter however Dongara regained their legs in the final quarter and with (Anthony) McShane booting 4.2 they held out for a desperately needed win.

After Three Springs starting well to lead by 24-points at the first break, Mingenew showed that they are a serious Premiership contender dominating most of the remainder of the game to run out winners by 46-points.
