BIG WINS THROUGHOUT

Craig Morgan, playing his 200th League game for the Bombers, won the toss of the coin and elected to kick to the southern end with the aid of a 4 to 5 goal breeze. After a hectic 10-minute opening period, Bombers settled and kicked 5 unanswered goals for the term. Brad Groves was playing strongly in the defensive area and Wayne Mutter was proving a focal point in the forward line. Hadyn Bussenschutt was instrumental in the centre of the ground, setting up many forward thrusts. Graham Wood was a strong leading target for the Roos and was provided with plenty of ball by young runners Brett Speldewinde and Jeff Page and the tireless Peter Machin. The Roos were determined to make good use of the breeze in the second term, but were wasteful in front of goal, scoring 1.5 for the quarter whilst holding the Bombers scoreless. Groves continued his good form in the second half when moved up forward and was well supported by young players Brodie Bennier (3 goals), Nakia Taylor and Jamie Antonio (2 goals each). Grant Eva, playing his 50th League game, kept the dangerous Roos forward David Lete quiet. The second half was an even tussle with Bombers winning 10.5 to the Roos 5.10. Better players for the Bombers, Groves, Bill McGree, Mutter, Morgan and Bennier. Roos better players, Machin, Wood (2 goals), Speldewinde, Darren Whitehurst and Brendan Haeusler.

Coorow/Latham travelled to Dongara confidant of a win. Dongara found their form at the start and took the game right up to Coorow/Latham Magpies in a tough bruising affair. Chad Zimmerman, Shane O'Keeffe, Cameron Wooton and Jim Phillips kept Dongara Eagles in the play during the first half with exceptional defensive work, with Anthony McShane [3] and Brad Ralph [3] putting goals on the board. Coorow/Lathams younger players in Gavin Kerr [5] and Damien Helliwell [4] lifted with magnificent support from the experienced Wes Morecombe; Mal Just; Chris Latham and Keegan Scott to run out 107-point winners.

Mingenew hosted their first game of the 2003 season defeating the Morawa Tigers by a percentage boosting 170-points. The young Morawa Tigers jumped out of the blocks posting two quick goals within the first five minutes of the game taking Mingenew totally by surprise. However, this was the last time Morawa saw their forward line until their next goal late in the third quarter. Mark Coaker, Daniel Rafferty and Cody Thorne where listed as better players for Morawa along with Jeremy Wasley, Josh Starick and Michael Kerr for the Mingenew Bulldogs.
